We would like to draw your attention to an article in the Sussex Express that states The Orchard Surgery is the busiest surgery in the area as we have far more patients per GP. On average there are 1719 patients for every full time equivalent GP in England. The article states that The Orchard Surgery has 6106 patients and the full time equivalent of 1.4 GPs, meaning we have 4227 patients per GP. These figures are inaccurate as we have regular locum sessions equating to 2.5 full time equivalent and 2400 per GP.

At the beginning of December it was announced that all adults will be offered a COVID-19 booster by the end of January.
It was also announced that the time between a second vaccine and a booster will be reduced from six months to three, and that 12 to 15 year olds are recommended to have a second vaccine.
After the JCVI made their announcements on Monday, the NHS confirmed that those at greatest risk will continue to be prioritised and the current eligible groups remain at this time.
Younger groups will then start to be invited in descending age order over the coming weeks.
The NHS will be in touch to let people know when it’s their turn.
We are urging anyone who isn’t yet eligible to please wait to be contacted by the NHS for your booster. Please don’t attend a walk in service as at the current time we cannot offer it to you.
If you are 40 and over, or 16 and over in one of the clinical at risk groups and you haven’t yet had your booster or got an appointment – please use the National Booking System website or 119 to arrange your vaccine. We have added more than 10,000 appointments per week across our services in the last week and more appointments are added every day.
If you have a booked appointment, please make sure you attend this and receive your booster vaccine.
To date more than 3 million vaccinations have been given in Sussex, with more than 70,000 vaccines being offered each week.

We are open and you will be seen face-to-face if necessary. 

Face-to-face appointments are available to all patients where there is a clinical need. You will be asked to first discuss your conditions over the phone with a member of the healthcare team to assess what would be most appropriate for you and which practice member would best provide it.

We have reintroduced some of the services that were suspended during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.  You may be contacted by the surgery to arrange a health review or a blood test.

Your GP surgery has a range of measures in place to keep you safe from Coronavirus including regular cleaning of patient areas and social distancing.  Please ensure that you wear a mask when attending the surgery.


If you have any of the following symptoms:

Temperature (if you feel hot to touch on your chest or back)

Cough (a new, continuous cough)

the advice is to self-isolate and self-care for 5 days.

You should contact NHS 111 online (or call 111 if you do not have online access) for further advice if you feel unwell and need help with your symptoms.  Please do not go to a GP, pharmacy or hospital.

For those without internet, needing to access the support from Adur and Worthing Councils, there is a helpline open Monday to Friday 9:00am until 5:00pm.  The helpline is just to help fill in the online form.  It is not for advice or guidance. There is limited resource to run the helpline so there may be some delays via this route.  The telephone number is 01903 221222.
